A Good Summertime Recipe

This is a recipe given to me by my sister-in-law, Connie. I have made it for years. It is a great company recipe served as a buffet.

Taco Frito - serves 16
Meat Sauce:
2 lbs. ground beef (brown with onion)
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. oregano
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. accent or seasoned salt
3 T. sugar
2 garlic cloves chopped
3 small cans tomato paste
6 cans of water
Combine and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

Serve with these items in this order. Let each person put his/her salad together according to individual taste.

2 large bags of corn chips
meat sauce
1 1/2 heads lettuce torn up
6 to 8 tomatoes, chopped
stuffed green olives (or black olives, if you prefer! I like any kind!)
chopped onions
avocados
sour cream
grated cheese
salsa

Oh yum! I haven't made it in so long...there is nothing that tastes so good as taco frito! You have to follow the order or it just doesn't taste the same!!!

You can see that this is a family thing. That is niece, Kari, and daughter, Sara. Thanks for a great recipe, Connie!

Sara used just plain old spaghetti sauce that you buy instead of making the sauce and it was just as good! Leave it to the young ones to come up with a good idea!
