More Winter Adventures

We had another beautiful day last week...
too nice to not try a few runs on the sledding hill.
We tried a different approach.

It worked great,
but I found it a little scary.
I really am a big chicken!

Not so graceful landing

On to a calmer activity
Puzzling works best in the day time with all the light streaming in.
You will notice a new addition to the left of Paul's head.

Remember what a hi-fi is?
This one belonged to Almeda Brown
and we have scads of her records as well as ours.
Does anyone need The Messiah?
We have two!

Here are a bunch of records in an old egg crate. Too bad the records are a little too big.
Unfortunately the stereo must have rattled a bit too much in transit.
Paul hopes he can fix it.
I...well, he says we must all make concessions.
This is one of my concessions.

Country Adventures

Sunday night we went to the farm, as we so love to do.
We hadn't been there for almost two weeks and my poor plants were calling for attention.
We had snow Saturday and Sunday, so we knew we most likely would not get into the drive way.
The van sat on the side of the road until we could use the snow blower the next day.
That is "we" in the editorial sense and does not include me!

So we plowed through the snow to the side door and left the keys in the door all night.
You hear about country folks being welcoming, but this is ridiculous.
That's what happens when you are just glad to haul yourself and the necessities to the door...
in the dark.

The stars were glorious!

The next day, after we were blown out, we decided to try out our sliding hill again.
The first challenge was getting the sleds out of the ice.
Then to make a sled run.

After trying to drag down on a sled, we decided that the snow blower would be a good idea.

We had a lovely sled run...

however it didn't work very well.
Lots of snow?
Wrong kind of snow?
No son-in-law to groom the trail?
No excited, light-weight kids to make numerous runs?
It was good exercise anyway.

The mudroom didn't look quite like it did when the kids were here with all their snow clothes.

But we did our best.

Maybe they would be glad that we were not whooping it up without them.

An Anniversary

VALENTINE'S DAY
has always been sort of an anniversary for us.
It was not the day of our first date,
but it was one of the first.
We were in the Valentine Formal (VF) program together.
You can read about it here.
That was in 1962!
You do the math!

My sweetheart brought these beautiful flowers home today.
They are not just for me, they are for us.
Happy Valentine's!
