Random PEI Shots

To me, this is a sad photo, because it used to be a cute gift shop.
Ruthie and I stopped here whenever it was that she and Dave visited.
It is closed now.

This is the old train station in Kensington where Lucy Maud M. would have gotten on and off trains.

Victoria-by-the-Sea in the rain

The previous two pics were of L.M.M birth place.

These windows in the gift shop at Silver Bush were taken from the Presbyterian church building which L.M.M. attended.

Now for a little R&R at the farm.
This should be a very interesting summer at the farm!

Silver Bush

We visited an "Anne site" which I had never visited before. I found Silver Bush to be totally enjoyable, probably because I have been to Green Gables so many times.
However...
I really bombed with the photos.
No pictures of the outside of the house...
no pictures of the lovely gardens.
My camera battery was going down, it seemed, so I was a bit distracted by that.

I doubt that I missed a hooked rug in the place.
No, I take that back.
There was one that didn't impress me, so I didn't photograph it.
The above rugs or mats, as they say, are old and are for sale.
I did not ask about their prices. I just like ideas of old rugs to make myself.

This one is quite a bit like the one I made for Andy.
I love the "hit or miss" use of colors. That is what it is called when you use up any combination of colors.
At any rate, I am getting keyed up to do some hooking, which I haven't done for ages.
All the rugs were lovely! Very lovely!

Oh yes, Silver Bush...
It was the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery's aunt and uncle and a very happy place to poor Lucy Maud whose happiest times seemed to be in her fiction.
This was the very organ used at her wedding which took place in this house.

This a desk which she also wrote about.
Something about the glass doors.
I guess I wasn't paying much attention to that detail.

Oh well! I plan to go back and next time I will get outside photos!

PEI Beach Fun

The weather forecast was never very good for our trip. However the Lord gave us nice weather, altho overcast, all day Friday. Saturday started out sunny and then turned rainy in the middle of the afternoon. It poured on the way home. Anyway...
This is Cabot Beach. We had a lovely beach walk there.

Checking out some shells or something

The main activity was picking up shells for the Haley kids.
Here is Mona busy with the task.

WE WERE THERE!
AND LOOK AT THE SUN!

PEI Tea Room

We hit the jackpot when it came to finding a place to eat near our cottage.
The nice lady at the nice gift shop belongs to some kind of club and they go out to eat once a month. So they have tried everything in the area. (We will have to try Miss Daisy's in Summerside. She highly recommended it but you need reservations.) Bonnie, the gift shop lady, told us to try the Blue Winds Tea Room for a real "island experience."
So we did!

It is located in an old island house, which is good!

It was charming!

The dining room

We were there for supper, but I decided that the best way to have room for dessert,
was to eat dessert! This is called New Moon Pudding and is from "The Selected Journals of L.M. Montgomery Vol. III." It looks like pie but is actually a lemon flavored bread pudding with meringue AND whipped cream. I am not normally wild about lemon but I am always up for trying a historic recipe, especially from Lucy Maud! I even have the recipe - paid 30 cents for it! If you would like to have the recipe, I'll give you a good deal. Haha! Heehee!
I think that a real lemon lover would be wowed by it. It was good!

A sandwich plate
Doesn't it look like the cook is Japanese? He is and so is his wife.

She is also an artist and made these mini desserts out of clay and then painted them.
I am sure that the prices are for the art work, not the actual desserts.

The husband made the mini cupboard and the wife made and painted the dishes.

I don't know if she made the mini clothes on the mini clothes line.
I bet she did!
What a fun experience and good food too!
I am sure they get all the Japanese tourists that visit the island and there are many of them! Some of the signs were also in Japanese!

PEI Overnight

One of the delightful things about living in NB is being able to travel to Prince Edward Island occasionally. This year that's where we spent our ladies' overnight. We have always stayed in a B&B in the past. This year we stayed in a cottage and that was FUN, FUN, FUN!!! (Guess I got the idea from Sara's ladies who went to a beach house down south. Only thing is, theirs was FREE because someone in the church owns it or has access to it some way or other.)

This is most of the group.
Silly Mona has a cookie in her mouth.
Imagine! She is the senior member of this group!
What would her mother say??!!

I didn't get a whole pic of the cottage...
just the important things like this gift shop on the property.

There are gift shops and then
there was THIS GIFT SHOP!
A REALLY GOOD ONE!

I have a "thing" about old stoves.
I am still looking for a way to use the one we have!

My eye always goes to hooked rugs. These two were NEW, BEAUTIFUL...AND
COST $1000 each!
