Porches
That is because the power is not in yet and the boss was not there with his generator.
The Lord took us there at just the right time to have the porch the size we want.
Because of some miscommunication, it was not all the way to the right end of the house as we wanted. It was no problem to extend it when we let them know what we wanted.
We used to eat on the front porch which was about the same size as this side porch.
I planned to set us up on the front porch, but although it was sunny, it was also windy and colder in the front. Notice the post sticking up under the light fixture. That is for my clothes line. We were there at the right time so that it was left that way! And the washer is right inside that door in the mud room.
We think both porches are wonderful!
The men are doing a wonderful job of finishing things off!

House Peaks are Finished...Basement Windows are In!
maybe. It is supposed to rain. I should have taken a pic before we left because the porch is well on its way. Also the side porch was well on its way. Unfortunately the power is still not in so the plumber and electrician haven't done their work. It won't take long once they can get to their work.

Remember the '80s?
Way back when...
I started a crazy quilt using the then popular colors,
country pink and country blue!
country pink and country blue!
but wondered how I could down-play the colors
somewhat.
good with colors. I took my two finished quilt squares to her and the above picture is what we came up with. The fabric on the right will be the border with the thin light strip
between it and the crazy quilt squares. I love the border fabric!
But do I really want to decorate a bedroom around a country pink & blue crazy quilt?
I don't know, but I will finish it! (When we bought our farm in 1994, our realtor said it would be nice to have a country blue and country pink kitchen. I thought UGH! No way!
Our kitchen was red/blue/green with a little yellow taken from the antique kitchen utensils and table cloths that we collected.)
I can do the double feather stitch around each piece and each square as I ride in the car.
Hate to waste that time...
unless it is THE FALL COLOR SEASON which is coming soon.
Paul's dad belonged to a "Tie Club" and ended up with a pile of old ties.
A family friend made them into crazy quilts. That quilt is in very delicate condition because the silk ties have disintegrated over time, mostly from the sun and not from wear.
I have always been very careful with it.
I actually took the pattern from one square of that quilt. In the original quilt each square was different. In my quilt, all the pieces within each square are the same but with the different fabrics rotated. It is like doing a puzzle, not deciding which piece goes where, but what fabric to use to vary the squares. Right now squares are all over our living room floor. I have 91/2 finished, with 2 1/2 to go. I am determined to sew them all together now while I know what I am doing...I think!
The plan is that this quilt will go into our new guest room at the farm,
on our poster bed which we have replaced at home with a queen sized bed...
finally after almost 45 years.
We still miss the posts!

From the Inside Out!
It was a miserable rainy day, but we had a job to do!
Glad we don't have to do it!
Everything that is done brings us closer to completion!
That is not snow in the yard!
It is a big sheet of plastic which was used to seal the house up while it was in two pieces.

The House is in Place!
However the "eye-brow" peak is not on over the living room windows and front door as yet.
We were not able to wait yesterday to see it all put in place on the foundation.

House Moving
Our friendly salesman/general contractor, BurtWe have found out what a BIG job he has.
He has or is putting in 8 houses this summer!
Back section on rightThe front section to the left is on the truck and ready to travel.
The men are working on the roof to collapse it.There is a video at the end of this post showing it as it goes down.
This is the same section after the roof was collapsed. Most houses would not be completely assembled before delivery as this one was.
This has been a model home for the past year, so it had to be complete for viewing and then dismantled for travel to our property.
Ready to roll! When we left the house, we thought that it would show up at the farm shortly.
However we waited from 12:30 until almost 3:00 for it to appear.
We picked and tasted apples. There are LOADS of apples on MANY trees this year.
Here Paul is in the house basement (had to climb through a window opening). He is rescuing a kangaroo mouse that was trapped there.
Too bad that I didn't get it's pic. It was the weirdest thing with a long, long tail and long back feet and short from feet. It hopped! And it had a brown stripe down it's back.
I was anxious to have anything resembling a mouse removed from the house!
Here is Mary running away from the mouse. She's some country girl!
I didn't get a pic of Howard and Tina, the other house greeters.
Paul had a Bible study tonight, so we decided to leave around 2:45.And HERE SHE COMES!
So we followed her back!

There were only inches to spare between the living room bump-out and the foundation. That's some driver!
Not much room on the other side either...but with a good driver, you don't need to start digging again!

Here she is sitting right behind the foundation. We couldn't stay to see her go on but everything is in place and anchored to the foundation now.
It will be two to three more weeks until everything is finished.
At that time everything will be finished:
plumbing, electricity, etc!
