Are we there yet???

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess* out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
Alexander Fraser Tytler, Lord Woodhouselee (15 October 1747 – 5 January 1813)
*lar-gess (lahr-jes, lahr-jis)
noun
1.  generous bestowal of gifts
2.  the gift or gifts, as of money, so bestowed
3.  obsolete.  generosity; liberality

Look what fits!

We took the Hoosier cabinet top to the farm to figure out where we could use it.  We did not put it on the bottom which we are using as a kitchen island, but we (or at least I) did want to use it.
Much to our surprise, it fit right on the desk which we bought for $25 and have in the den.
So now I can use all those cute little drawers and doors!

He wrecked my trees!

I don't  care if they look like an orchard!
I want them to look like a farm!
A friend who was upset when a pro trimmed her trees told me he said if she was unhappy
with the trees after 1 year, she didn't have to pay him.  I guess she paid, which means she was happy.
But they were SO BEAUTIFUL!

Monday Morning

Connie's dad made this y-e-a-r-s ago.
It was stored in the old house,
but all the wheat was nibbled away by mice.
This is new wheat and when I saw it it reminded me of the wooden birds...
A Scandinavian decoration!

Somebody brought me a doll-sized cake.
(The teaspoon is for size.)
Isn't it cute?

So I had a doll-sized piece...
to keep my sugar levels doll-sized!

VISITORS!

A week ago today we were in the midst of one BUSY week.
Just within the two previous weeks, we found out that Dwight & Cheryl would be able to attend
the 50th Anniversary of Fundamental Baptist Church in Saint John.
(I had been praying about this for weeks!)

The day before the anniversary, we met them and took them to the farm.
Here they are on the ferry.

I can't believe we didn't take any pics while they were at the farm.
We did, however, get this one of a coke bottle hanging on a tree when we took
the truck up into the woods.
Neat, eh?
Wonder who did that...
maybe our resident deer hunter.

On Sunday we started meetings with Gary Gillmore.
On Monday Cheryl & Dwight came and provided music through Wednesday night.

Relaxing

Here's Dwight trying to find out if their flights were on after Sandy blew through.
They made all their connections even though they flew through New York's LaGuardia.

Cheryl is sitting in my living room talking to Kari.

This is the packing process.
Since Cheryl's suitcase went to San Fransisco,
REALLY!
Cheryl had to do some shopping.
Consequently there were additional clothes and another suitcase going home.

They landed in Bangor on Thursday.
The suitcase caught up with them on Tuesday night
and they flew out on Thursday.
See the tag that says SFO? and RUSH?

Later on Thursday, after they left, the sun came out and the lake was beautiful!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

Paul planted this maple tree in our yard today.
It was from our own property.

The lawn tractor came home after being in the shop
all. summer. long.
But then it is gone again.  It needed more work.

Did you notice the truck?
And the big smile?
