A Trip

At the beginning of May
we made a speedy trip to NC to see the grandkids
and their parents.
At the time, winter was still trying to hold on here,
so the very spring like weather was wonderful.
I do have to say that the snow had disappeared in the northland
but there were no leaves on the trees.
They have arrived now that we are entering June tomorrow.

Sara had flowers growing in window boxes and pots.

What welcome sights for winter weary people!
Can you see the trees with leaves reflected in the glass door with the photographer?

The main reason for the trip was to take our trusty Odyssey van to the kids.
She has now become a southerner and is enjoying her new home, we are told.
Her name is now "Cheese."  She never had a name before.

While we were on our visit, we went to several yard sales.
At one sale I saw some hand made quilts lying on the ground and was told
the lady owned a quilt shop and needed to weed out her
stock of quilts.  They were samples.

I picked this one and told the lady I had taken a machine quilting class,
but didn't do very well.  She gave me a hint which I have yet to try because quilting is not on the agenda right now.  (She said it is hard to do without a long-arm machine -
which I know).
She also told me that the fabrics are repro vintage Civil War fabrics.
I wish I had asked more about it.
When Paul gave her a 20 dollar bill,
she gave him $10 back.  I guess she liked my interest in quilts!

A Quilt for Christmas

I made Sara a quilt for Christmas.

It is like the one I made for us except for the colors.
I don't know what she has done with it.
Ours is under a heavy plastic on the table at the farm.
I don't mind having to wash it, but I hate for it to be stained.

If it looks like I am scratching for photos,
I am.  I have lost/misplaced my camera.
Hoping it will still turn up when all the dust settles in the house.
The dust has settled, but there is still organization to be done.

Here's where my sister is...

and this is me.
I am very excited for her and hope she has a good time.
I asked her to think of us once or twice as she is on the cruise.

I LAUGHED UNTIL I CRIED!

You have to read this!

And to think, all I ever did was put a grilled cheese sandwich, which I made my boy friend, into my dresser drawer.  Why?  Because I burned it and if I threw it into the trash, he might have seen it.  What did I do with it?  Ate it, of course.  We didn't waste food!  I really did better in cooking than the pancake maker.  Now, almost 48 years after marrying my BF, we are both healthy and well-fed.

CHERYL'S PROGRESS

We had a nice chat last night, my sister and I.  It sounds to me like her living room is loaded down with flowers and Dwight is scurrying around in an apron with a list in one hand and a pile of laundry in the other.  Maybe he wouldn't like that description, but Cheryl made it clear that he is a huge help to her.  Her sisters would like to show up and ease the work load for him.

Cheryl is feeling much better than a week ago, for sure.  She did have a trip to the doctor to see about swollen legs, which are not too much better yet.  She is really struggling with that eye problem.  I can't imagine being down and not able to read much.  She is praying that God will heal her eye since that surgery is out of the question for quite a while.  We are thankful for the eye trouble which alerted the doctors to the greater problem with her heart valve.

Don't give up praying for her now.  We do thank God for many, many answers to our prayers.  Take it easy, dear Cheryl, and soak in all the TLC you can!

Country Gardens

We had a wonderful time with Dwight & Cheryl.
Here is a look at their house and gardens.

They have a nice patio in back.

.Lupins, of course
Cheryl has always been partial to lupins.
It is the New Brunswick & north shore of Wisconsin/Minnesota connection.

Notice the bird house with the NB license plate.
I don't have one even tho Paul is the one who made it!

I didn't take inside pics except for the people ones.
The house is cute and cozy as Cheryl's home always is.

More MN pics for my family

If know you know what this is all about, you are family.
If I had been near Scandia Shores,
the last pic would have been of Rainbow.

Do you remember how wonderful we thought 2032 Arkwright looked years ago?
But that was 40 years ago!

MY FAMILY WAS THERE!

My sis, Cheryl, and her husband, Dwight, were all at the singspiration
along with their daughter, Kari, and husband, Ted,
and their children,
Ashlynn, Alisa and Teddy.
Here we are all together on Teddy's birthday at the
Norske Nook.

We spent some really fun time together at Dwight & Cheryl's home in Wisconsin.
There will be more of that later,
but you have to hear Kari sing
and Cheryl play "The God of the Mountain." (Cheryl played for the singspiration too!)

It broke Kari's uncle (Paul) up every time he heard it.
It was Kari's singing and what goes behind it in their lives.
What a blessing!

*Sorry about the extra when I didn't turn the camera off!

WINTER WONDERLAND

We had a wonderful Christmas with Sara, Dave and the kids visiting from the south!
God gave us more than we prayed for with dry roads and good travel both ways,
AND beautiful snow,
beautiful days while they were here.
We all enjoyed our time at the farm in the winter wonderland.
The kids especially enjoyed sledding.

Even Grampa and Gramma took turns sliding down the hill. We bought two sleds ourselves and told the kids that we would be flying down the hill after they went home. (Wednesday we had rain and the snow disappeared so that the roads were dry for the trip home which started the next day.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

I finally got this to work.
This pic is from Canada Day, July 1st, 2008.
What a fun time we had at the Tattoo in Halifax.

I have been trying to post a pic of our "little girl" (who grew up to be a lovely lady, wife and mother) and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her...however, nothing seems to work. HAPPY BIRTHDAY anyway, Sara! We will celebrate with you soon.

Antiquing & Bowling

What a fun day! These kids are good antiquers.
