PEI Tour

Here are a few pics from our weekend on the island. It was not a very nice day when we

were driving around, especially not a nice beach day. However we had a good time!

PEI Weekend

We spent this last weekend with the people and pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Souris, Prince Edward Island. Paul had a music seminar on Saturday morning, and also preached and taught at the church on Sunday. We had a wonderful time! What a great group of people!

This is the nice church building which was bought and renovated while Dave and Cheryl Vought were pastoring there. They have used their lighthouse theme very effectively.

This is Pastor Bart Gragtmans, his wife, Lynn, and daughter, Amy. The other 4 kids are grown and gone. We had a wonderful time staying with them in their home.

Here it is! A real PEI farmhouse! I want my sisters, Cheryl and Cilla, and my sister-in-love, Connie, to know that I felt properly guilty for three minutes on their behalves! (Maybe I should add Kristy, Kari, Mari and Sara too!)

They have a beautiful view. You can see the water from the upstairs windows. However when I took pics, you could see rain on the windows and screens through the windows. Here's a funny story: the Gragtmans did not know they had such a beautiful view because it was foggy when they toured the house before buying it. They did say that they pay for that view in the winter because it is SO windy that there are whitecaps on the water puddles!

Lynn is a gardener. She maybe would not be impressed that I included the wicker planter because some of the flowers were done, but I liked the planter which was on the porch.

The lady who grew up in the house lives across the road in a mini home. She has come into the back door but will not go into the rest of the house. I love the story that goes with this pic of the window which is on the stairway landing. Formerly there was a back stairway which the children of the family were always required to use. On Sundays they were allowed to sit on the stairs and look out of the window with the colored glass. They thought that was a great treat!

This is the living room with wonderful old portraits of Bart's great-grandparents.

And this portrait at the bottom of that special stairway was of Bart's grandfather. Bart himself came from Holland. They also have a beautiful old desk and lovely blue and white china dishes from France which belonged to his grandmother.

What a special weekend this was for us! How good God is to give us such a wonderful time serving Him, but also being served by others!

A Fall Treat

Yes, peanut butter on apples!
I learned to eat apples that way y-e-a-r-s ago in college
and it always seems like the fall thing to do.
Yummy! And the apples are from the farm.

Remember the murals?

This is a new mural of the firehouse in Sussex. The man and boy looking at the horses and wagon are part of the mural. It is really nice! I am not aware of any other new ones during the summer except for additional work done on another one. But then they do pop up where you least expect them.

The Pond House

Here are some pics of the Pond House - inside and out - in no particular order.

I have posted this before,
but it was too beautiful to pass up!

This stove really puts out the heat!

A Beautiful Farm Day

Yesterday Gordon and Stella went to the farm with us to pick apples...
and eat, of course.

The apple trees are loaded this year.

This rock sits by our backyard gate.

We all tried numerous apples.

"Look at this one!"

We are at the top of the hill here (you can see the shop roof to the left).
This scene will be much prettier in a few weeks when all the leaves change.

Paul and Gordon in our woods

High bush cranberries
If anybody wants some, we have plenty.
They smell like dirty socks when you cook them!

An old bucket by a tree in the woods

And that's not all of them!

Candy, Stella and Gord's dog, had a real workout!

Here I am picking but most of my job was catching apples tossed to me!
I wish I had a photo of Gordon up in the tree,
but I was too busy catching then to go for the camera.

Ha Ha Cemetary (REALLY!) and some old buildings

These pics were taken on our way to or from Cape Enrage.
We were very surprised to see the name of this cemetary.

Evidentally there is a Ha Ha Bay in the area
which was probably named by the Indians because of the sound that the loons make.

I was fascinated by this tomb stone. It certainly looks as if this man were a true believer.
Part of the saying reads,
"By long experience have I known
Thy sovereign powr to save
At Thy command I venture down
Securely to the grave."

A Saturday Adventure

Last Saturday we went to Cape Enrage for the first time ever. We just recently heard about it because it has been in danger of being shut down for various reasons. It was a wonderful place and a wonderful day! The photos are pretty much self explanatory except perhaps for the repeller. We watched the last one of the day because the tide was coming in fast and they repel to the beach. He starts out right side up and then turns upside down! All in all it was a great experience!

FALL (almost) FLOWERS

So much to do!

Weeding...

Moving things
around...

Potting the
geraniums that
I keep over the
winter...

Maybe when it is all done and the shutters are on the front
of the house, I will feel like taking a photo of the front of the house.
