PEI Weekend

We spent this last weekend with the people and pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Souris, Prince Edward Island. Paul had a music seminar on Saturday morning, and also preached and taught at the church on Sunday. We had a wonderful time! What a great group of people!

This is the nice church building which was bought and renovated while Dave and Cheryl Vought were pastoring there. They have used their lighthouse theme very effectively.

This is Pastor Bart Gragtmans, his wife, Lynn, and daughter, Amy. The other 4 kids are grown and gone. We had a wonderful time staying with them in their home.

Here it is! A real PEI farmhouse! I want my sisters, Cheryl and Cilla, and my sister-in-love, Connie, to know that I felt properly guilty for three minutes on their behalves! (Maybe I should add Kristy, Kari, Mari and Sara too!)

They have a beautiful view. You can see the water from the upstairs windows. However when I took pics, you could see rain on the windows and screens through the windows. Here's a funny story: the Gragtmans did not know they had such a beautiful view because it was foggy when they toured the house before buying it. They did say that they pay for that view in the winter because it is SO windy that there are whitecaps on the water puddles!

Lynn is a gardener. She maybe would not be impressed that I included the wicker planter because some of the flowers were done, but I liked the planter which was on the porch.

The lady who grew up in the house lives across the road in a mini home. She has come into the back door but will not go into the rest of the house. I love the story that goes with this pic of the window which is on the stairway landing. Formerly there was a back stairway which the children of the family were always required to use. On Sundays they were allowed to sit on the stairs and look out of the window with the colored glass. They thought that was a great treat!

This is the living room with wonderful old portraits of Bart's great-grandparents.

And this portrait at the bottom of that special stairway was of Bart's grandfather. Bart himself came from Holland. They also have a beautiful old desk and lovely blue and white china dishes from France which belonged to his grandmother.

What a special weekend this was for us! How good God is to give us such a wonderful time serving Him, but also being served by others!

We loved seeing the pics as we are sitting here in our trailer in South Bend, IN. We are parked on the RV pad at Community Baptist. Next week we head to Colonial Baptist in Indianapolis.

You should feel guilty for much longer. What a wonderful place to serve the Lord! I loved the little stories, esp about the window.Cheryl

Just happened onto your blog again and saw the picture of the Gragtmans. They were friends of ours back in Waterdown, Ontario. Nice to "see" them, as well as you and Paul.
