Country Adventures

Sunday night we went to the farm, as we so love to do.
We hadn't been there for almost two weeks and my poor plants were calling for attention.
We had snow Saturday and Sunday, so we knew we most likely would not get into the drive way.
The van sat on the side of the road until we could use the snow blower the next day.
That is "we" in the editorial sense and does not include me!

So we plowed through the snow to the side door and left the keys in the door all night.
You hear about country folks being welcoming, but this is ridiculous.
That's what happens when you are just glad to haul yourself and the necessities to the door...
in the dark.

The stars were glorious!

The next day, after we were blown out, we decided to try out our sliding hill again.
The first challenge was getting the sleds out of the ice.
Then to make a sled run.

After trying to drag down on a sled, we decided that the snow blower would be a good idea.

We had a lovely sled run...

however it didn't work very well.
Lots of snow?
Wrong kind of snow?
No son-in-law to groom the trail?
No excited, light-weight kids to make numerous runs?
It was good exercise anyway.

The mudroom didn't look quite like it did when the kids were here with all their snow clothes.

But we did our best.

Maybe they would be glad that we were not whooping it up without them.
