Last Visit

This lady, named Pauline, was raised in our farmhouse back before it had running water, indoor plumbing or electricity. She and her sister slept in the "little room" or the 1/2 bedroom, as we call it. They thought the room was big! Her parents had "our" bedroom with the stove pipe warming it and her three brothers roomed together in the other room. Pauline, the last of her family, is 85. She doesn't drive any more but has someone drive her out occasionally. We did not want her to see that the house was gone without knowing about it before hand. So we went to get her one day for her final visit to the old house. She understands why we need to demolish the house, but then we are not sure she totally understands. That was her home! We are very glad that we took her out for that last time. In the picture she is looking at a photo album of the house which she gave to us. Here she is sitting in the living room. She told us they were only allowed in there for special times.
