I snatched these pics from my niece, Kari's, blog of the candle holders which always sat on our piano when we were growing up. I didn't remember that they were angels, only that they rarely said "NOEL" because someone was always changing them around to anything but what they were meant to say!
(I hope you don't mind, Kari!)
They now sit on my sister, Cheryl's, desk greeting a new generation of monkeys...meaning those who will change them around every time Cheryl is not looking! Maybe even Dwight will get back in on the fun! It seems to me that it was boyfriends/future husbands/husbands who messed around with them! I could be wrong about that. We probably all took a turn!
The real thing - they are cute!
Another Christmas tradition was our revolving Christmas tree stand. It was so neat! There was a music box which played as it revolved. Paul worked on it so many years and finally declared it "unfixable!" I never wanted to believe that, but we did dispose of it. I remember my dad grafting in branches so that our tree would look good from all angles as it revolved. An artificial tree would have been a good solution. Back then, that was unheard of and also unthinkable! A few years ago we made the switch from live to fake. We don't miss the mess!

I love it that you added your memories to the NOEL girls! The simple things of life...that is where the "merriness" comes from! Love, Kari
