While driving down the coast of Maine, we came upon this spectacular inn which was for sale. Being the curious people that we are, we had to stop and have a look. Then we saw this sign on the front porch and, of course, took the invitation to mean it was open for our viewing!
We toured from top (3 floors) to bottom. It would take a wack of antiques to fill it up!
And only antiques would do. I wish we had seen it when it was furnished!

We have no idea of the price, and we are not thinking of buying it, believe me!
We did some inquiring and found out that very recently this was an elegant inn used for weddings, wedding receptions and such. People who live in the area were not even aware of it's closing. The gardens were a bit overgrown but still very nice. However it is being sold for bankruptcy. I wonder if Martha Stewart would be interested. She does have a place in Maine.
One lady's daughter had her wedding reception there and said it was a lovely place. Someone else told us the inn had plenty of business, but could not make it in these tough economic times. I sure hope someone rescues it. It is listed on the national historic registry.
I wonder what those walls could tell us!?
Have a look!

I would buy it in a minute...If I only had a rich Uncle and Aunt who could float me a hefty loan...sigh. Thanks for the tour! Hugs to you both!
