The Baby Tears Story

Baby Tears in the cute Mary Engelbreit pot which Sara gave me

In 2000 when Cheryl left N.B., she gave me her baby tears plant. Over the years I have babied the baby tears, almost losing it several times. Each time it revived. However after our trip in March and April it seemed to have outlived its ninth life and my plant finally died. I looked all over town for a new plant, but couldn't find one. I did find one when we were in Maine last month. When we came to the border, we were asked if we had any plants. You never know what you will be asked and we, of course, always tell the truth. "Yes, we have a house plant." "Will it ever go into the ground?" "No, it will always be a house plant." Well, she marked it down and said she didn't know when we went inside what they would say. They didn't care a bit, but got some money from us for bringing in that wonderful used lawn tractor. When we got home (to the farm), I noticed that the tag said, "grown in Canada."
