WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!

Monday we drove over to Amherst, Nova Scotia for a "Monday Get-away!" It was a beautiful day and we had a few things to check out. I had heard something about Dayle's Department Store there, but didn't really know anything about it. So we looked it up and it was an experience we would not have missed! I don't know why we have missed it this long! The store was built in 1906 and has not been updated so it reminds me of the stores from my childhood!

After we shopped at Dayle's, Paul asked a "local" about a nice place to eat lunch. His theory is that the locals always know the best places and we have never been led astray using his method. We were directed just a few door down to a nice lunch place. Then we found out that the rug hooking shop was closed on Mondays, which I kind of remembered hearing. However Frenchy's was very much in business. As we drove into the parking lot, there was only one parking space available. The reason, much to our surprise and delight, was it was HALF PRICE DAY!!! So we had a good time searching for goodies. And we did find some. I hope the kids will be happy about what we found for them. They usually are!

That Store did look very cute! It reminded me of the old store downtown SJ. I can't remember what it was called- accross from the City Market (at the top of the hill)

That was Calp's. I remember when we first moved to SJ thinking how it had not been upgraded like the stores we were used to in Mpls. It was not as neat as Dayle's tho!
