QUILT SQUARE TOUR

King's County, where our farm is located,
has a Quilt Barn Tour.
Large quilt squares are displayed on historic properties.
The quilt squares depicted have to do with the history of each location.

There is a lovely brochure with a map, pictures of the quilt squares
and an explanation of each location.
This first one is at Bates landing.
As you can see to the left of the square,
there is a longer explanation about the location.

This is the Pleasant View Hotel at Hatfield Point, the end of the Belleisle Bay which was the last steamboat stop long ago.  It is also the closest town to our farm.  I thought that this quilt square was weird.  I found out that the lady who lives there is very disappointed with the square.  (I don't know who paints them.  I will have to stop in for more info.)  I saw the quilt and you have to see the whole thing to see the design.  They plan to have it repainted to show the whole quilt.

We are very familiar with this location.  It seems unlikely that a quilt square would be depicted at a farm implement business, but there it is.  The quilt square is called "Crossroads" and that is what this was years ago.

This square is called "The Tree of Life" and the original owner of the property was "deeply involved in the local Baptist Church."

This last pic is not on the quilt tour.  Someone in Hatfield Point decided to paint a quilt square on his barn.  I heard that some ladies thought they should not do that.  Excuse me!  If you want to paint something on your barn, you certainly can.  I am hoping to do the same when the siding is complete on the front of our shed.  I had planned that even before I knew anything about the King County tour.  Of course it would have to be a lot smaller.
