apple pie for Mary

I removed some "old" fruit from Mary's fridge and decided to make an apple pie from apples which needed to be used. I asked Mary (still in hospital) if she would like some apple pie and if she would be allowed to eat it. She said she would love some and would ask questions after she ate it! So Mary is feeling better, her humor is back. And tomorrow she is going home!!! She has not been there since she broke her hip on December 13! She still needs prayer and will need help as her strength is not back.
This is my apple pie. It is gone but it was very good, if I say so myself, and I do. It is Paul's favorite dessert besides chocolate cake with boiled frosting, carrot cake, chocolate &/or chocolate chip pie, etc., etc. Actually he likes pretty much everything I make. Isn't that nice?

The secret of the apple pie:
the nutmeg in the crust
& specially the variety of apples
(Macs, Cortlands, Gravensteins or Yellow Transparents from the farm are my favs)
And my biggest fan says most people don't bake apple pie long enough!
I received the Watkins Cookbook with the recipe years ago from Dwight & Steve!

What a sweet lady you are! I love apple pie too and I love the smell that floats through the house when it bakes...mmm. However, Ted's philosophy (?) is "fruit is not dessert" which the kids have picked up on...you can tell he married into the Carlson/Turbett family...because anything can be dessert! RIGHT!?
